On 16th December 2011, we were invited to watch a musical performance called “Avventura Musica” by UPSI’s final year students. There were 16 of us who are able to join the trip. We arrived on 8.30p.m when the performance was just about to start. Luckily, we made it. Fuh! The moment we entered the hall, it was almost full house, so our expectation regards the performance was very high.

The performance is actually about Luta, an alien from outer space, who wants to know what music, is all about. He tried to play the instruments but could not find the right note to make a great sound. Then, his little friend suggested him to go and visit the earth to know more about music. That is when his adventure begins by traveling around the earth in searching what music is.

Overall, the performance was splendid! It started with recital that represents the China followed by India, Africa, Arab, Traditional Malay, and many other ethnics and races. It was so beautiful. The props and the customs were stunning and brilliant. The show ended at 11p.m. We had a great time there. We felt very lucky to be given such opportunity. It was a great experience. Hoping there will be more to be seen, not only from the UPSI but from other places too. Special thanks to UPSI for inviting us and all participants who are willingly spending their valuable time for this trip :)

It was a night to remember as we, the members of Gamelan Club came together for a night of enjoyment, Annual Grand Dinner 2011. It was a huge success for us the junior as well as a first-timer organizing this event for our beloved senioritas.

our VIP of the night, Cikgu Ku Zahir Ku  Ahmad

Gamelan Annual Grand Dinner Project Manager Nur Athirah Mohamad Hatta, a first year TESL student hoped that the event will bring us the senior and junior closer than before. The organization committee members consisted of students from different faculty but we manage to work together as a team. To ensure that the event went smoothly, it is important that everyone knows their role.

At about 8.30 p.m. the guests were starting to arrive. Everybody looked so gorgeous and handsome with their retro-metro attire.

At about 9 p.m., the night officially begins! We were entertained by the emcee of the night, Nafeesa and with her never-ending pantuns. Hehe.

The most anticipating moment and highlight for that night – Best Dress Winner! Up to 6 people were shortlisted for the Best Dress Winners. The finalists were then required to do a catwalk and do a lil’ bit of performance.

The winner goes to …… *drum rolls*…….. Iezad Rushdan (our ex-president Gamelan Club) and our beloved senior, Jannatun Niza.

There were also lucky draws, few games as well as the announcement of new Gamelan Club Organization Board. Congrats to those that has been chosen to be in the new board. Work hard, play hard, plan more events and let’s bring IIUM Gamelan Club to the next level. Insyaallah :)

Thanks again to committees and everyone who involved especially to Creative Production team who worked very hard to get the video done in time. Selamat Hari Raya :)
